RAMANAPUDI
This is my project done recently for a competition conducted by ultratech cement pvt.ltd especially for civil engineers.
Ramanapudi(village code-28) belong to gudivada Mandal(mdl
code42) of Krishna Dt. A.P. The
population of this village is around 1500 people
Coordinates: 16°23'16"N 80°59'33"E
Reasons for choosing this
Particular Village:-
We
choosed this village because it is just 5.5 km from Gudivada Town. It is situated on the P.P.road which connects
gudivada and Pamarru, vuyyur and machilipatnam.
Primarily the people living in this village are somewhat economically
well settled. I mean that they own Huge
acres of land. They also own ancestral
properties. Due to the lack of coordination between them is the only reason for
underdevelopment. The Population is
about 1500 members including children but there are only 900 members in voters
list of the village. There are around
250 houses in the village.
Brief description of the Village:-
The main occupational activity of the villagers
is Agriculture. Some of the villagers
also depend upon the cattle rearing etc.
Here
the Average Annual Income for 1 acre land ranges from Rs.20,000/- to
Rs.30,000/-. From July to November end
they cultivate Rice. And from December
to February month end They cultivate black gram. From March to June the land remains
barren. The people earn Rs 150 to Rs 200
for 4hrs when they go as labor in between march and june. The monthly expenditure of a house hold is
ranging between Rs.3000 to 5000/-.
Millers buy the Crop from the Farmers.
Some millers transport to other states when government permits. Some Millers Sell the crop to FCI(Food
Corporation of India). We all usually know that this FCI’s main objective is to
maintain satisfactory level of operational and buffer stocks of foodgrains to
ensure national food security. When I
reached out farmers there they admit that only due to FCI intervention in
market is main reason for stabilization of price of the crop. Here 1 acre of field costs ranging from 20 to
35 lakhs as it is very nearby village to the road connecting Gudivada and
pamarru.
The land that is used for Agricultural purpose in
and around the village is 1250 acres, but at present the cultivation is done in
only 850acres. This Village comes under
Gudivada Rural Police Station.
Political Conditions in the Village:-
This Village Panchayath
consists of One President & secretary who is a government servant(as well
as paid by the government) and Seven Ward members. Except Secretary all others are elected by
the people of this village. At present
the president got dissolved. Now the
entire village is under the hands of secretary.
The Ex-President of the Village is Veerabadrarao.
This Village Got to see somewhat advancement
during the period of 2001-05. Then
President Venkatasivudu tried to the best of his level to get funds from
different sections of Mandal. In his
term the village got funds for construction of Panchayath office and anganwadi
kendram.
Industrial
Relations with the Village:-
There are about 60 to
70 factories in and around the Ramanapudi Village. The Kwality Feeds Limited which is situated
touching the P.P.Road in ramanapudi is very famous for manufacturing high
quality extruded floating fish feed, aqua feed and Cattle feed. SKS Bio Products Pvt Ltd. Is also situated in
this village which involves in production of enzymes, Bio fertilizers and
pro-biotics etc & in the same way
other biotech industry called Nature biotech is also present in this
village.
Tirumala
Diary is also situated touching this village.
There are 2-3 rice mill like rajyalakshmi rice mill and kamadenu rice
mill etc. Here in total 70
factories maximum no. are cold storage
farms are present, these constitute 40-50.
In this area the Saltiness in water is the main factor for the
establishment of cold storages.
Income to
the Village:
Ø As it is developed as
industrial area the income from industries and factories to the village in form
of taxes is 1 lakh per year.
Ø There are 4 ponds in
the village. The village panchayth gets
income of 1 lakh 25 thousand approximately per year.
Ø If there is any kind
buying & selling is done through property registrations this village gets
5% of the wholesome amount.
Approximately the amount bares from Rs.30,000 to 40,000.
Ø According to the 11th
financial funding scheme each person get 8 ½ rupees per year from the central
government.
Ø From RW-Voters Scheme
this village gets Rs.50,000 per year.
Ø Zilla Parishad funds are also ensured for
Ramanapudi every year.
Ø During 2001-05 these
villagers got Rs.5 Lakh from M.P Fund and 1 lakh 50,000 from MLA fund.
Ø From “NABARD” this
village got funds of 1 crore 70 lakhs to construct a concerte road that links 3
panchayats.
Ø This Village has 55yrs
of panchayath and till now 11 sarpanchs(panchayth presidents) handled the
power.
Ø The pivotal thing is
Mahajan Sabha which will be held once in 6months to discuss the utilization of
funds for right purpose with the all villagers.
Everything is funded by the government but the
only thing is that categories are
different. The president and Secretary
of the village may not be a literate but
must be educated the ways that they can bring the funds to village from mandal,
ZP, state and Central Funding Schemes.
The Panchayath president also should feel Onus in brining funds to the
village. This Ramanapudi Village needs a
Facelift to look better & beautiful.
Medical
Facilities:-
In this village they don’t have any
kind of medical facility but the government gave Moturu Medical Hospital as
regional medical centre. The villagers
say the ambulance will reach them within 5-10min in case of any emergency call.
Educational Systems:-
Here the education is
upto 7th class itself. That
too the school is being run by the Government.
There are about 100 to 120 students studying in the school. To pursue above 7th class one has
to go addada or billapadu villages to study. There are only 4-5 teachers who
come from outside the village. This is
the condition of educational system in the village.
Traditional
Entertainments:-
These
people go for cock fights during Sankranthi festival season(January). This is their traditional entertainment. Other than this there is no particular entertainment
for the villagers.
Caste system and Religion:-
Here the basic point to consider is that
Maximum population of the village belong to only one community(They refer
themselves as “Gollas” or Yadu Rajus or Kshatriyas”). I mean that 190-200 houses in village belong
to this particular community but even though they belong to same community due
to lack of unity they lag behind in development. 10 houses belong to Kammavaru(chowdary)
community. And 40 houses which are
situated on only one side of the village belong to malavaru(SC) community. This is the caste census of the village. Hope here in this village caste don’t play a
major roll or as a barrier for the development of the village.
Here
in this Village now a days Christianity is getting propagated very fast &
the people are also showing their own interest towards this foreign
religion. But Recently the people
belonging to a sub division of Yadav Raju community constructed a temple of
their god “Ganganamma” spending 10Lakhs on that temple. They believe that this god saved them and
being saving their village from droughts or whatever disasters.

Projects We prefer for the
Village:-
Methods
Suggested for the development of the village:
We
suggest “Drip irrigation” for the fields in the village because it
disables the wastage of water. The water
through this drip irrigation directly served to the roots. This method saves water and ferlizer by allowing
water to drip slowly to the roots of plants through a network of valves, pipes
and tubes. For Last few decades the
irrigation system in this Krishna delta is in a drastic downfall due to lack of
sufficient water resourses from nagarjuna sagar project. From past few years the average annual
rainfall is declining gradually this year it is 1,094mm only. So we prefer this type of irrigation to the
village as it is cheap, intial installation cost also less compatively.
Cottage industries-That We Suggest:----
Since our main objective is to create
sustainable income stream we will explore ways and means to develop small scale
industries where ever the local resources will be able to support such an
opportunity. Women based food processing unit, Reestablishment of indigenous
rural occupation those who belongs perticular community like fishery,
Animal husbadary, carpentary etc. We can save community's
occupation in mordernised way. The industry could be for
fruits juice canning, tomato paste canning, fish meal, frozen seafood
processing, flour packaging and bakery. This will permit remote villages to be
financially self sustaining and the creation of employment.
3. ORGANIC
FERTILIZER
With the aid of
our organic fertilizer, the farms will enjoy the benefits of being
environmentally friendly, shorter harvesting period and increased
production. The organic fertilizer has proven to increase production by up
to 40%, insect free attack, shorten harvesting period and cause no pollution.
We can use agricultural wastes as organic fertilisers by suitable composting
technology. Users of orgnic fertilisers over time can also stop
the use of chemical fertilizers, insecticide and pesticide. This will be a
great plus for the environment and cost savings for the farmers and country.
Although many of the
environmental effects of pottery production have existed for millennia, some of
these have been amplified with modern technology and scales of production. The
principal factors for consideration fall into two categories: (a) effects on
workers, and (b) effects on the general environment. We must encourage village arts like pottery,
black smithy, carpentry and hand crafts.
The existence of these all village arts for future generations reminds
them about our culture and customs of ancestors. It is responsible of every person belonging
to that particular community to preserve their ancestral art.
Eco-friendly
Storage Houses that we Suggest:-
We suggest
this type of storage houses made up of cow dung and bamboo. It is preferable because it is eco-friendly
and cost of making is very low.
Solar Power Project
for the Village:
We suggest solar panels as
power resource for the village due to discontinuous and fluctuated power
supply. This kind of solar power project
are being installed in Gujarat, and many of the metropolitan cities, so when we
prefer this kind of power supply to village it inhibits the global warming
effect too and makes the village as complete eco-friendly.
